Let’s face it. Most of us were not taught about money. So it’s up to us to go out and learn. One of the best ways to do that is to read books about money. These are the most influential financial books I’ve read — the ones that have shaped my thinking, behavior, and journey to financial independence. My challenge to you is to pick one, give it a read or listen, and let me know what you learned and what questions you have. One of these books might change your life like it did for me!
The Simple Path to Wealth - JL Collins
Choose FI - Chris Mamula, Jonathan Mendonsa, Brad Barrett
The Psychology of Money - Morgan Housel
Retire Often - Jillian Johnsrud
Die With Zero - Bill Perkins
Financial Freedom - Grant Sabatier
Your Money or Your Life - Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez
Happy Money - Ken Honda
MoneyZen - Manisha Thakor
Bonus tip - I love holding and reading a real book, but sometimes I struggle to sit still and make the time. Audiobooks have changed my life and are a great option for people who prefer to listen. Most of these audiobooks are between 6 and 8 hours, easy to tackle on your 30 minute commute to work or while you are doing chores around home.
If you are going the real book route, check it out for free from your local library. You can also rent most audiobooks for free through the Libby app. If it isn’t available there, signup for a free trial of Audible and knock out a few from my list.
